Migration Troubleshooting

This guide covers common issues during and after migration, with solutions for each.

Account Issues

"Account not found"

Problem: Your email doesn't find a salon.io account.

Solutions:

  1. Try alternate emails

    • Work email vs personal email
    • Old email addresses you may have used
  2. Try your username

    • Format: yourusername@salon.io
    • Check your salon.io profile for username
  3. Account may be very old

    • Inactive accounts over 5+ years may be archived
    • Contact support with your username
  4. Check for typos

    • Review spelling carefully
    • Check for extra spaces

"Verification failed"

Problem: Password or email verification doesn't work.

Solutions:

  1. Password issues

    • Reset your salon.io password first
    • Try again with new password
    • Check caps lock
  2. Email verification

    • Check spam/junk folder
    • Wait a few minutes for delivery
    • Request new verification email
  3. Account locked

    • Wait 15 minutes after failed attempts
    • Try password reset
    • Contact support if persists

"Multiple accounts found"

Problem: System finds more than one account.

Solutions:

  1. Select the correct account from the list
  2. Verify the one you want to migrate
  3. You can migrate other accounts later

Import Issues

Import stuck or frozen

Problem: Progress bar not moving for several minutes.

Solutions:

  1. Wait longer

    • Large images can take time
    • Give it up to 5 minutes
  2. Check connection

    • Verify internet is working
    • Try refreshing the page
  3. Refresh and resume

    • Reload the migration page
    • Check dashboard for completed imports
    • Resume from where it stopped
  4. Try smaller batches

    • Cancel and import fewer pages
    • Complete in multiple batches

Import very slow

Problem: Pages taking much longer than expected.

Solutions:

  1. Reduce batch size

    • Import 5-10 pages at a time
    • Large pages take longer
  2. Check your connection

    • Use wired connection if possible
    • Avoid peak usage times
  3. Close other tabs

    • Free up browser resources
    • Pause other downloads

Page failed to import

Problem: One or more pages show error status.

Solutions:

  1. Retry the failed page

    • Click retry button
    • Often works on second attempt
  2. Check the specific error

    • Hover over error for details
    • Note any specific message
  3. Import separately

    • Try importing just that page
    • May reveal specific issue
  4. Check original page

    • Visit page on salon.io
    • Verify it loads correctly there

Image Issues

Images not appearing

Problem: Page imported but images are missing.

Solutions:

  1. Wait for CDN propagation

    • New images may take a few minutes
    • Refresh the page
  2. Check image status in editor

    • Select the image block
    • Look for error indicators
  3. Re-upload manually

    • Download from salon.io
    • Upload to New Salon
  4. Check original

    • Verify image exists on salon.io
    • May have been deleted

Images low quality

Problem: Images look blurry or pixelated.

Solutions:

  1. Check display size

    • Image may be stretched larger than original
    • Resize block to match image size
  2. Re-upload higher resolution

    • Get original file if available
    • Upload larger version
  3. Check optimization settings

    • Very old images may have been optimized
    • Original quality may be limited

Wrong image cropping

Problem: Image shows different portion than on salon.io.

Solutions:

  1. Adjust crop position

    • Select image
    • Edit > Adjust Position
    • Move focus point
  2. Change fit mode

    • Try "Contain" instead of "Cover"
    • Or vice versa
  3. Resize the block

    • Match aspect ratio to image
    • Eliminates cropping

Layout Issues

Layout looks different

Problem: Page layout doesn't match salon.io original.

Solutions:

  1. Check layout type

    • Verify correct layout was applied
    • Change if needed in toolbar
  2. Adjust layout settings

    • Open layout settings panel
    • Match settings to original
  3. Review Layout Mapping

    • Understand the conversion
    • Make appropriate adjustments
  4. Manually reposition

    • For Canvas layouts
    • Drag elements to correct positions

Elements in wrong positions

Problem: Blocks not where they should be.

Solutions:

  1. For Canvas layouts

    • Drag to correct position
    • Use alignment guides
  2. For Grid layouts

    • Adjust column settings
    • Resize blocks to span correctly
  3. Check zoom level

    • Page may appear different at different zooms
    • Reset to 100% to verify

Overlapping elements

Problem: Elements that should be separate are overlapping.

Solutions:

  1. Adjust z-index

    • Right-click > Arrange
    • Send to back or bring to front
  2. Reposition elements

    • Drag apart
    • Use arrow keys for precision
  3. Check layout type

    • Grid layouts don't support overlap
    • May need Canvas layout

Text Issues

Text formatting lost

Problem: Text appears plain without formatting.

Solutions:

  1. Check in edit mode

    • Double-click text block
    • Formatting may just not display in preview
  2. Re-apply formatting

    • Select text
    • Apply bold, italic, etc.
  3. Check font availability

    • Original font may not be available
    • Choose similar alternative

Text content missing

Problem: Text blocks are empty or have partial content.

Solutions:

  1. Check the original

    • Verify text exists on salon.io
    • May have been empty
  2. Import again

    • Re-import just that page
    • Watch for errors
  3. Copy manually

    • Copy text from salon.io
    • Paste into New Salon

Links not working

Problem: Hyperlinks don't go anywhere or go to wrong place.

Solutions:

  1. Check link URL

    • Select linked text
    • Click link button to view URL
  2. Update internal links

    • Old format: /pagename
    • May need: /docs/en/pagename
  3. Fix external links

    • Verify URL is complete
    • Include https://

Post-Import Issues

Can't find imported pages

Problem: Import completed but pages aren't visible.

Solutions:

  1. Check dashboard

    • Go to main dashboard
    • Look for new website or pages
  2. Check page visibility

    • Pages may be set to "hidden"
    • Change in page settings
  3. Refresh the page

    • Dashboard may need refresh
    • Clear browser cache

Publishing errors

Problem: Can't publish imported pages.

Solutions:

  1. Check all required fields

    • Page title set
    • No validation errors
  2. Review error message

    • Specific guidance usually provided
    • Fix indicated issues
  3. Try publishing one page

    • Isolate the problem
    • Find which page causes issue

Known Limitations

Some features may not migrate perfectly:

  • Custom fonts (substituted with similar)
  • Very complex custom HTML
  • Third-party integrations
  • Form submissions (history)

These may require manual recreation in the new platform.
